It’s hard to believe how fast this year has gone by. Where has the time gone, eh? Well for our console of choice, year one was been a hard fought battle. Most considered us down and out, but in year two we lead the
charge and showed we like being the underdogs.
Year two was the proving grounds for us from the latest
greatest games you can only find on the PS3 like Metal Gear Solid 4:
Guns of the Patriots, Resistance 2 to Socom Confrontation, to even
getting ported games with additional content just for us PS3’ers
games like Overlord and Bioshock to name a few. We even got an official
headset for the system that is paired automatically and is in high
quality to hear all your enemies screams and taunts. Blu-ray won
the DVD format war, meaning the PS3 was the home of the next gen in movies
along with games. Our PSN (Playstation Network) grew up too, like expanding to a new redesign and look to adding videos from some of the
top studios in the biz. It also has more content for us to purchase, using those precious PSN Prepaid ...
Apparently Nintendo did not get the memo regarding the economy. In fact, their hardware sales are up 25.7% from the previous October. Here are some words from Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President, Cammie Dunaway:
“Nintendo provides consumers with the best value not only among video
games, but also among most entertainment options," and that “Nintendo also provides an incomparable range of
experiences that everyone can enjoy, whether you’ve been playing for
years or are just getting into video games.”
This past October alone, they pushed out 803,210 Wiis and 491,176 DSs, thats 1.29 million total. I think Nintendo might be one of the few companies making a profit this year, and
I'm not just talking about the video game industry. Daa-aamn.
Anyone who has spent some time looking at some of the funniest advertisements around has probably noticed that many of them come from countries outside of the United States. Now that LittleBigPlanet has launched in the US and now in Europe, Media Molecule has released a trio of ads that each gave me a chuckle. They're quick spots featuring a piece of a new level narrated by someone associated with it. It's got personality, it's fun to watch, and a post on LittleBigWorkshop has revealed that the levels associated with those ads will be made available online to those of us who can't get enough LittleBigPlanet. I might try and make that springy caterpillar thing, myself.
Cool stuff. Give them a look and make sure you're not eating or drinking anything. I wouldn't want your computer to get your favorite drink all over it.
If my friends list is any indication, LittleBigPlanet has some legs.
With users whipping out level after level, some great, some
not-so-great, some moderated out of existence by unhappy gamers or Sony
itself, there's huge potential for the game to keep going and going and
going. 1Up has a new piece up detailing what they think are the best
levels so far.
I played and absolutely adored The Azure Palace, finally getting to
finish it last night with a friend visiting. Incidentally that same
friend is getting a PS3 this Christmas and is very excited to play more
LittleBigPlanet online and off.
So give 1Up's list a look and bust out the search engine on
LittleBigPlanet and heart those masterpiece levels. They're not going
to play themselves people!
With questions if the Ghostbusters’ game will ever be made, it finally finds a home with Atari. Just in time too since Atari hopes to release the game with next year’s 25th anniversary party.
Ever since Atari flirted with bankruptcy last year gamers have been looking for good news about the company even if its link to lots of classic games is really in name alone. The news about Ghostbusters isn't the only good news, though. CCP has announced that Atari has been chosen to publish new retail copies of their space massively multiplayer game EVE Online. Even though EVE is a PC-only title, it's a clear sign that CCP believes Atari can get its name back onto store shelves.
It looks like Phil Harrison's influence has been as positive for Atari as it was for Sony as a champion of our new favorite game LittleBigPlanet. For details on the EVE Online ...

Our friends over at Aeropause.com have created a level celebrating the historic election of Senator Obama to the presidency of the United States of America.
I was at Grant Park last night, but I am happy to say that had I not gone I would have hung out in this level instead! Great work guys!

Now that the ball is rolling, here are more games that are coming out in November. Some of these you might have been tracking and already knew they were coming out, some you might have forgotten, and some you might have never known. And yes, there are a ton of sports games coming out, but those of you who buy them already knew their release dates. I wanted to bring attention to the “other games”. For example, it looks Nintendo has some potential with Alien Crush Returns and Rayman; and of course, the PS3 ...
If you've enjoyed the 8-man co-op in the Resistance 2 beta as much as me you've probably looked at the gap between October 31st and the game's November 4th launch with trepidation. Maybe you've had trouble tearing yourself away from LittleBigPlanet now that the servers have come around. Good news for you and me has hit the PS Blog today. The Resistance 2 beta has been extended to Monday.
The same blog entry has details of a midnight launch event in San Francisco and news of a first-ever community day on November 7th at Insomniac which will include competitive multiplayer matches against the developers of the game itself.
This extension of the beta will give me a chance to give the competitive multiplayer a shot as well as several more rounds of co-op. Which part of the beta do you like most, and will you be picking this game up now or putting it on your gift list so that special someone can pick it up for you later? Or maybe, just maybe, ...
